Sony KDL-46WL140 - 46" BRAVIA LCD TV - 120Hz - widescreen - 1080p (FullHD) - HDTV - piano black - with DMX-NV1 Internet Video Link Module

Sony KDL-46WL140 - 46" BRAVIA LCD TV - 120Hz - widescreen - 1080p (FullHD) - HDTV - piano black - with DMX-NV1 Internet Video Link Module Review

For the last six weeks, we have enjoyed having Sony's Bravia KDL-46WL140 W series Full HD 1080p HDTV grace the wall of the family room, a spot previously hidden by a large wooden media cabinet that contained a 37" JVC CRT TV. The contrast in clarity and sharpness between the two TVs is amazing, and the Sony's crystal clear picture on HD TV shows just how much technology has changed in just nine years.

Before buying this model, I was looking for a flat screen with plenty of HDMI inputs (not that we need them now, but in three years, who knows?), a TV that itself was not ugly or overstated (didn't want any touches of red or other colors as I was not buying a car), and a TV that would make me stop and stare at the picture. A bit of research preceded my expedition to find the right TV (we were saving change for quite some time), and this model was the one I kept coming back to at the large consumer club where I bought it. The other TVs, all getting their feed from the same in-store source and all subject to the same harsh overhead lighting, all paled in comparison. (Plus, this was the last one in the store, showing that I was not alone in my opinion.)

We installed this 46 inch on a Sanus rack, and actually our measuring was the most time-consuming part of the installation. The set up menus were easy to follow, and the we had the TV up and running in about 30 minutes. We have tried out some of the options, and after some initial tweaking in the deeper levels of the menus, have not tended to leave the settings as is. I suspect once we add a blu-ray DVD player, we will need to reexamine the options.

It took a bit longer for me to figure out all the inputs and get the surround sound working through my older non-HDMI receiver, but I agree with others, that the TV's sound is a bit anemic, and the added muscle from surround sound really enhances movies and concerts.

Guests have all commented on the quality of the picture and the size of the 46 inch screen. For us, this is plenty of TV, and we should be "future proof" for a few years yet. I have not yet hooked up the Internet component (though it is installed) but plan to run an ethernet cable directly from a router to the TV in the next few weeks.

  • Swivel Stand
  • SPVA Panel

Samsung LNT3253H 32-Inch LCD HDTV Overview

Turn it on, and this 32" LCD TV comes to life with brilliant colors and intense blacks, rendered in an 8000:1 dynamic contrast ratio. Moving images flow naturally, thanks to the fast 8ms response time. SRS TruSurround XT audio, emanating from hidden bottom speakers, fills the room with clear, nuanced, virtual surround 3-D sound. Enjoy the versatility of a wide range of A/V inputs, including 3 HDMI ports, USB 2.0, and PC inputs that allow connectivity to many of your digital devices. And to control it all, the handy HMDI-CEC feature lets you control all your CEC-enabled peripherals using just one remote.

Samsung LNT3253H 32-Inch LCD HDTV Specifications

Offering an unparalleled sleek design and one of the best 720p LCD panels available, Samsung's 2007 model LNT3253H 32-inch flat-panel LCD HDTV is an updated successor the super popular 2006 model LNS3251D. Compared to the previous year's model this one offers an updated cosmetic design, a better contrast ratio at 8000:1, hidden speakers, side A/V inputs, and 2 HDMI connections.

The Samsung Digital Natural Image engine (DNIe) Video Enhancer refines all analog NTSC and wideband video inputs for an overall improvement in picture quality. DNIe improves contrast, white level, picture detail and incorporates digital noise reduction to improve lower quality video inputs. The 3D Y/C digital comb filter constantly analyzes the three dimensions of picture height, picture width, and picture changes-over-time to dramatically reduce edge image artifacts while improving transition detail.

High-quality virtual surround sound can be experienced with just the speakers built into the TV. SRS TruSurround XT technology delivers an amazing, simulated 3D effect with clear dialog and powerful bass through hidden side speakers. TruSurround XT audio adds three audio enhancement technologies to produce an amazingly immersive sound experience.

  • Dialog Clarity brings movie dialog into Focus during the playback of any surround-encoded material to make speech much clearer and crisper.
  • TruBass creates incredible deep rich bass allowing a person to perceive significantly deeper, richer low bass tones that are far beyond the physical low frequency capabilities of the speaker itself.
  • The SRS WOW feature widens the soundstage by processing standard two-channel stereo material as well as multi-channel encoded material for a dramatic improvement in the playback of any stereo audio over a two-speaker system.

Connections:

  • HDMI (High Definition Multimedia Interface) 3
  • R/F in 1
  • Component (Y/Pb/Pr) in 2
  • S-Video input 2(1 side/1 rear)

Emerson 32" LCD HDTV

Emerson 32" LCD HDTV Review

I wanted a new tv that was affordable. This television was the most affordable as well as the biggest I could purchase with what I had to spend.
This is not the tvs fault but you don't automatically get HD tv from your cable company just because you have an HDTV. I didn't know that and wondered why I couldn't get the HD channels. Duh. The HD will cost a little more. I don't have the HDTV cable and I just get regular digital tv from the tv. Which, to me, is fine. Some people may feel differently and if it makes that much of a difference to you than you'll probably also want a more expensive television with crystal clear picture quality-which this one doesn't.
But for the price-I can handle the downgrade in picture quality.

I'm happy with the video quality. It's not spectacular but it's definitely watchable without being annoying or even an issue in any way shape or form. I enjoy my shows without ever even having to think about it. I just enjoy the big screen.
The television has different screen modes to choose from. The cinemax or movie mode one can be a tiny bit fuzzy and the whole picture doesn't fit into the screen but I dont think that's the tvs fault. I think that's just how the cinemax/movie mode is.
The other modes are fine.
Like I said-if you've got to have stellar picture quality than go spend a thousand and more on another tv the same size as this.
As far as the sound goes, I wish it were just a little better quality. No biggie. It's nothing that annoys me. It gets pretty loud and I can hear it most of the time with no problem. But it does have CC if, like me, movies are a pain to hear because the actors have a habit of talking /whispering way too low with their dialog. The furniture they sit on make more coherent sound than they do. It's really frustrating.
I think if it had better sound quality, I could hear them better than their footsteps and furniture but I could be wrong about that.

The tv was easy to set up. REally very simple.
I would recommend this. I know it's been refurbished but I am very happy with my purchase.
Save yourself some money if you're not going to nit pick about crystal clear picture quality.

Mitsubishi LT-40151 40-Inch 1080p 120Hz LCD HDTV with Integrated Sound Projector, Black

Mitsubishi LT-40151 40-Inch 1080p 120Hz LCD HDTV with Integrated Sound Projector, Black Review

I bought this TV to replace my 36" Sony Trinitron that just died. My Sony was in a custom built-in cabinet. I wanted to replace it with the biggest flat screen I could buy.

The only TV that fit my requirement was the Mitsubishi lt-40151. Its slim frame design met my needs perfectly. I looked at every brand of 40" flat screen and this had the smallest width footprint. I didn't want to go down to a 37". Of course that would have save me around 00.

Here is my review of this TV (after 1 day):

Good Things:
1> The picture quality is outstanding.
2> The sound is very good for a flat screen.
3> The TV channel guide is very nice.

Bad Things:
1> The price. If I didn't have a size requirement, I would have never looked at this TV. With the $[...] price, I shouldn't have items 2,3 and 4 in this list.
2> The remote control. Not layed out very well and the menu keys are way too small.
3> The TV menu is not very user friendly. It took me longer than usual to get the TV set up with over the air broadcast and my devices. **I've set up a lot of TV's, most recently Samsung and Sony LCD's. Their TV menu were very easy to navigates and very user friendly. Mitsubishi has work to do here.
4> Changing channels was very slow. Way too slow for a $[...] 40" TV. I have a Radio Shack converter box that changes channel 3x as fast. A $[...] TV should be able to match Radio Shack. **My Samsung and Sony LCD work much faster too.

Over all:
I would buy this TV again, since it was the biggest TV I could fit in my space.

Hopes:
I hope $[...] price tag has bought me a quality built TV that will last longer than my 12 year old 36" Sony Trinitron (that should have lasted 20+ years).

Sharp LC-26GA4U 26-Inch AQUOS HDTV-Ready LCD Flat-Panel TV Review

We bought the Sharp Aquos LC-26DA5U 26" LCD TV a few weeks ago. Great picture quality, superb sound, stylish design. After a lot of research and numerous trips to stores, we narrowed our search down to Sony (picture), Samsung (price) and Sharp (middle ground). Sharp definitely gives you the best of both worlds - quality picture at a great price. One area for improvement - remote control design (reminds me of a laundry bat :-)). Thank you Amazon for the FREE standard shipping offer! Got the TV within a week of purchase.

Sharp LC-26GA4U 26-Inch AQUOS HDTV-Ready LCD Flat-Panel TV Feature

Sharp LC-26GA4U 26-Inch AQUOS HDTV-Ready LCD Flat-Panel TV Overview

Sharp's LC-26GA4U is a state-of-the-art 26" widescreen LC-TV that can easily enhance the decor of any family room, living room or den. With a 16: 9 aspect ratio, HDTV-compatible resolution of 1366 x 768 and breathtaking color purity, it is a next-generation TV to carry you into the high-definition future. The LC-26GA4U utilizes Sharp's proprietary Advanced Super View/Black TFT Panel, which provides levels of high brightness (450 cd/m2), an 800: 1 contrast ratio, and wide viewing angles (170? x 170?). Additionally, the LC-26GA4U is an HDTV Monitor, which means it is compatible with 720p signals from HDTV sources (separate DTV decoder required). The LC-26GA4U features an elegant new design with detachable speakers to ensure the sound is as outstanding as the picture. In addition, the included table stand can be easily removed for wall mounting applications.Other features that distinguish the LC-26GA4U include: HDMI, DVI-I and 2 HD component video inputs; a PC Card slot which allows you to record and view still images and video on a PC Card; and Sharp's proprietary Quick Shoot video circuit, which enables fast response time of less than 16ms.

Sharp LC-26GA4U 26-Inch AQUOS HDTV-Ready LCD Flat-Panel TV Specifications

Revitalize your home entertainment with a flat-screen jolt of style and quality in the form of Sharp's Advanced Super View LC-26GA4U. The 26-inch, HDTV- and PC-compatible LCD television--a member of Sharp's stylish AQUOS line--offers a widescreen 16:9 aspect ratio to match your favorite movies, and high-definition video resolution up to 720p (progressive-scan) when connected to a DTV set-top box/receiver (not included).

The 1,366 x 768-resolution LC-26GA4U includes 2 detachable, high-aperture aluminum speakers powered by 10 watts per channel. At less than 4 inches deep, the set is perfect for either table or wall positioning. A handy PC Card slot lets you view still images and video you've recorded on a PC Card, and Sharp's proprietary Quick Shoot video circuit ensures a lightning-quick response time of less than 16 ms for smooth-as-silk video and gaming graphics.

LCD screens offer a number of benefits over CRT monitors and televisions, including general ease of use, freedom from eye strain (no screen flickering or radiation emissions), quiet operation (no high-pitch "flyback" noise, an issue with CRT TVs), accurate image geometry (no curvature distortion or susceptibility to magnetic interference from, say, speakers), long screen life (no risk of image burn-in), space savings, and light weight/easy positioning. They also tend to be cheaper and, to some eyes, slightly more natural looking than their plasma flat-panel counterparts, which usually "spec" higher (higher brightness, higher contrast ratio).

The LC-26GA4U's Advanced Super View/black TFT (thin-film-transistor) screen offers exceptionally wide (170- by 170-degree) viewing angles and an extraordinary contrast ratio of 800:1 for super-black blacks. Its high brightness (450 cd/m2) ensures wide dynamic range for vivid colors, great depth, and realism. You can place it anywhere--near windows, doors, or other light sources--and its picture will remain vivid. And, with its 60,000-hour lamp life, the backlight life is long enough to give you viewing pleasure for many years. A built-in 181-channel, drift-free PLL synthesized tuner lets you plug your TV antenna or cable box right into the LC-26GA4U and start watching.

Connections consist of 2 high-definition component-video inputs, 1 DVI-I (Digital Visual Interface-Integrated) input, 1 HDMI (High Definition Multimedia Interface) input, 3 composite-video inputs, and 1 S-video input. An audio/video output (composite- and S-video with stereo analog audio) facilitates hookup with a surround receiver, DVR, VCR, or other destination.

DVI-I is a direct-digital DVI terminal capable of transmitting both analog and digital video data. HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface) is a lossless, uncompressed, all-digital audio/video interface to link any audio/video source (such as a set-top box, DVD player, or AV receiver) with your TV or monitor. HDMI supports standard-definition (SD), enhanced definition (ED), or high-definition (HD) video, plus multi-channel digital audio--all using a single cable. It transmits all ATSC HDTV standards and supports up to 8-channel digital audio, with bandwidth to spare to accommodate future enhancements and requirements.

SHARP LC-30HV6U 30-Inch 16:9 HD-Ready LCD TV

SHARP LC-30HV6U 30-Inch 16:9 HD-Ready LCD TV Review

NOTE: At present (Oct. 2004) the LC-30HV6U LCD TV should cost under 00. Amazon was selling it for 00 but now there seems to be a pricing error. I have notified Amazon.

Review:

The Sharp Aquos LC-30HV6U 30" LCD TV is an outstanding LCD TV. Like the other widescreen LCD TVs from Sharp, it represents the state-of-the-art in LCD television today.

Compared to the more popular (and more affordable at 0 less) LC-30HV4U model -- who the heck was the genius that came up with these silly model designations? -- the present 30HV6U model sports better technology. But for the most part, I feel the cheaper 30HV4U is a better bang for the buck, unless you absolutely want the best, in which case the extra 0 for this 30HV6U is well worth it.

- Better contrast ratio. 30HV6U's is 700 vs. 4U's 500.
- Faster response time. 6U is about 16ms realized vs. 4U's 25ms.
- 1-bit digital audio amplifier, which is absent in the 4U model. This technology recalls Kenwood's successful 1-bit DAC that revolutionized how CD music was processed a decade ago.
- Better speakers. Regardless, you should get your own hi-fi.
- Speakers are placed beneath the LCD panel, vs. the 4U's side-placed speakers, which I find more stylish and convenient. Both models' speakers can be detached.

Both models are HDTV-ready (native 720p), have DVI, and can be used as a PC or Mac monitor.

In short, the 6U model has a (slightly) better LCD panel. I say "slightly" because in real-world performance terms, the 4U is already very outstanding. If one had to rank LCD TVs on the market today, in each size segment, the 6U models are definitely #1, with the 4U coming in at a very close second. (Of course, if you work for another LCD TV maker, you may disagree. But me, Gadgester, is an everyday consumer and a relatively unbiased observer and follower of technology.)

Hope this quick review helps you somewhat. E-mail me with questions and I'll try to answer them.

The LC-30HV6U also includes a 1-Bit digital audio amplifier for superb sound.

SHARP LC-30HV6U 30-Inch 16:9 HD-Ready LCD TV Specifications

LCD screens have never been better--or more affordable. Make the move to widescreen, flat-panel elegance with Sharp's 30-inch, widescreen, HDTV- and PC-compatible LC-30HV6U Advanced Super View LCD television. Part of Sharp's stylish AQUOS line, the 1,280 x 768-resolution LC-30HV6U offers a 16:9 aspect ratio to match your favorite movies, as well as high-definition resolution (progressive-scan 720p). At a mere 3 inches deep, the set is perfect for wall mounting, though it comes with a table stand for desktop positioning. The set also includes detachable speakers with 10 watts per channel audio power from a 1-bit digital amplifier.

The Advanced Super View screen offers exceptionally wide (170- by 170-degree) viewing angles and an exceptionally high contrast ratio of 700:1 for super-black blacks. Its high brightness (430 cd/m2) ensures wide dynamic range for vivid colors, great depth, and realism. You can place it anywhere--near windows, doors, or other light sources--and its picture will remain vivid. And, with its 60,000-hour lamp life, the backlight life is long enough to give you viewing pleasure for many years. A built-in 181-channel tuner lets you plug your cable TV right into the LC-30HV6U and start watching.

Two-tuner POP (picture-on-picture) includes a pair of independent cable TV tuners so you can watch two programs side-by-side, or record one program while watching another. Sharp's proprietary Quick Shoot video technology optimizes the set's response time on fast-moving images.

Being too thin to house its many connections (13 inputs total, including a direct-digital DVI input, 2 high-definition component-video inputs, 4 each S-video and composite-video, and an XGA-resolution PC input), the LC-30HV6U comes with a stand-alone AVC System--a set-top box that houses all terminals, minimizes clutter, and preserves the panel's austere look. Choose from composite- or S-video outputs and an accompanying stereo analog audio output (left/right RCA) with selectable fixed/variable output levels, depending on your designs.

What's in the Box
LCD TV, detachable speakers, AVC system (set-top box with all terminals), AVC stand, 1 system cable, 2 AC power cords, 2 cable clamps, an RF video cable, a table stand, user's manual.

Westinghouse PT-16H120S - 16" LCD TV - widescreen - 720p - HDTV - black, dark silver

Westinghouse PT-16H120S - 16" LCD TV - widescreen - 720p - HDTV - black, dark silver Review

Just wanted to balance the other "fly-off-the-handle" review a little with something more positive because the other single review paints a less than reliable picture (no pun intended!).

My father owns this same model and me being my families semi-official audio/video "expert", I've seen and set up many lcd & plasmas for myself and many others and I've spent a great deal of time reading up on all the technology and associated pros & cons of each. Bottom line: this LCD is a solid performer. Picture is quite satisfactory, no better or certainly no worse than the vast majority of LCD screens on the market and near this price point. And if you are able to tune in digital/HD quality stations and you have previously owned only CRT TVs, you are going to be VERY impressed! If you DO experience a poor or unclear picture, then there is likely to be something wrong with the way you have this lcd set up; poor cable or satellite reception, improper settings in the menu, not using the optimal cabling to bring out the best picture, etc.

Sound volume is fine. Loud enough on all channels that my father can tune in, apart from one PBS channel which was a problem with the station itself, not so much the volume capabilities of this LCD. Plus, there is always the option of adding inexpensive and easy to attach external speakers to increase the volume if needed. The truth of the matter is that a television this small is never going to be able to provide great and very loud sound. The speakers needed to fit a small LCD like this have to be quite small which limits it's ultimate volume and performance capability.. it's physics, folks, plain and simple. And let's be honest, on a relatively small tv like this one, chances are you are going to be viewing it from within several feet and you wouldn't need it to have ear-bleeding volume!

My father has owned this LCD for well over a year now and it always works as it should. Nothing more, nothing less. You could do a LOT worse than this Westinghouse 16" LCD, but you won't do much better.

Sony KDF-55WF655 55-Inch HD-Ready LCD Projection Television

Sony KDF-55WF655 55-Inch HD-Ready LCD Projection Television Review

Since the TV is now obsolete by the next year model, I wanted to comment on the shipping. After reading a few of the horror stories and awaiting order confirmation, I did start getting nervous. The delay in the order shipping was due to lack of inventory, since it was near the end of the model line. This wait resulted in a 0 savings when compared to Best Buy and Circuit City. Once shipped, the TV was delivered promptly to my house by very courteous guys. They helped open the box and look things over in a preliminary inspection to insure things worked. Although things were a little stressful in the middle of the process, I am happy in the end.

Sony KDF-55WF655 55-Inch HD-Ready LCD Projection Television Feature

  • Vivid, high-definition, slim-chassis LCD projection television with 55-inch screen and ATSC (HDTV) tuner; 57.3 x 37.1 x 19.3 inches (W x H x D)
  • Lightweight design with bright, high-contrast screen; CableCARD compatibility removes the need for a separate digital cable box
  • 3.28 million dots resolution for stunning detail and clarity; fixed-pixel display and constant light prevent image flicker
  • CineMotion 3:2 pulldown detection and reversal removes redundant video information to display a film-frame-accurate picture from movie sources
  • WEGA Engine system keeps images in the digital domain; an optical engine ensures high resolution, corner to corner

Sony KDF-55WF655 55-Inch HD-Ready LCD Projection Television Overview

Sony debuts its first 55" LCD Rear Projection Television with the KDF-55WF655 Grand WEGA High Definition Television. Featuring a high definition integrated television display, ATSC integrated tuner and 3.28 million dots resolution, the KDF-55WF655 produces stunning picture resolution. In addition to a CableCARD Slot, it features CineMotion Reverse 3-2 Pulldown Technology allowing for enhanced customization and a slim tabletop design that is sure to compliment any decor. You can even listen to MP3 audio and view your photos with the built-in Enhanced Memory Stick Media slot.

Sony KDF-55WF655 55-Inch HD-Ready LCD Projection Television Specifications

Weighing in heavy on style, features, and quality, Sony's cutting-edge, 55-inch KDF-55WF655 is nevertheless a lightweight when it comes to heft. That means the 101-pound LCD projection television is easy to position, and its relatively modest chassis--standing under 20 inches deep--won't push you out of your house. The set is also loaded with great features, from integrated NTSC and ATSC (HDTV) tuners to Sony's WEGA Engine system, digital cable readiness, and the latest digital-video interface, HDMI.

The set's 1,366 x 788 liquid-crystal display frees you from having to make convergence adjustments or having to worry about image burn-in. Instead you get incredible detail (more than 3 million pixels), high contrast, and even, corner-to-corner brightness from the set's user-replaceable 132-watt UHP (ultra high pressure) lamp.

The screen features a wide, 16:9 aspect ratio to match the dimension of most movies and HDTV broadcasts, and the KDF-55WF655 offers compatibility with standard-definition 480i, enhanced-definition 480p, and high-definition 720p and 1080i signals. Sony's Digital Reality Creation (DRC) circuitry ensures high picture resolution, while proprietary Direct Digital Circuitry increases a video signal's signal-to-noise ratio before it reaches the DRC circuit, ensuring rich, natural-looking images from any source.

Sony's CineMotion 3:2 pulldown detection and reversal is a handy feature for watching progressive-scan movie programs in their native 24-frame format. Digital video mastering introduces a common distortion when adjusting 24 frames-per-second movies to 30 fps video; 3:2 pulldown digitally corrects this distortion, removing the redundant information to display a film-frame-accurate picture.

The set's WEGA Engine system maximizes picture performance from any video source by minimizing the number of digital-to-analog conversion processes. This full digital processing engine includes Sony's MID-X (Multi Image Driver), which maintains the integrity of a converted signal by minimizing image loss in the scaling process; and a proprietary optical engine, which employs a trio of Sony's wide-XGA, high-resolution LCD panels, 1 for each of the RGB signals (resulting in a total of 3.28 million dots of resolution).

The optical engine also features a special 11-element lens system responsible for the lightweight, ultra-slim cabinet. The lens system bends the light path, creating an ultra-short focal point while maintaining high brightness. This proprietary system delivers vivid images from the center of the screen all the way to the edges.

The set includes numerous other features.

  • TwinView PIP (picture-in-picture) lets you view any 2 sources simultaneously, even at different image resolutions, while the built-in Memory Stick media slot offers ready display of both JPEG images and MPEG-1 video.
  • A Memory Stick media slot (compatible with Memory Stick Pro and Memory Stick Duo media) grants convenient viewing of JPEG and MPEG-1 files. It can also display customized slide shows using MP3 files for background music.
  • Channel Fix lets you select a specific TV channel (3, for example) for cable box reception. Then you can control a compatible cable box via the TV remote without inadvertently changing the TV from Channel 3.
  • Authorized CableCARD ability means the set will receive digital cable television systems services directly from the cable operator without requiring a bulky, external cable box.
  • Sony's exclusive S-Master 1-bit digital amplifier produces 15 watts per channel (x 2), ensuring high power for superb, clear dialog.

HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface) is a lossless, uncompressed, all-digital audio/video interface to link the set with any audio/video source (such as a set-top box, DVD player, or AV receiver).

What's in the Box
TV, remote control, remote batteries, a user's manual, and warranty/registration information.

Samsung LN40B630 40-Inch 1080p 120 Hz LCD HDTV with Red Touch of Color

Samsung LN40B630 40-Inch 1080p 120 Hz LCD HDTV with Red Touch of Color Review

I was looking for an lcd tv to replace our old tube tv in our family room. I found this tv at best buy for about 0 more. I was glad I also looked at amazon. The experience couldn't have been better. My brother has bought 2 flatscreens and also had no issues.

As far as the tv goes, we already had a samsung plasma and loved that as well. The picture is as crisp as our plasma. I did have to play around with the settings a bit to get the right colors, especially facial pigments. Also, the 120hz feature had to be dialed down a notch to avoid making filmed tv shows like sitcoms less jittery. Most shows I learned are at 60hz and so will appear jittery on here. Exception is live tv as far as I've noticed. Basketball games for example were perfect. I did see that turning the 120hz setting to its highest made the people on the tv seem almost 3-d. But that jittery stuff was just too distracting.

Sound is good for a tv speaker. There's some pseudo surround sound you can turn on but in the end this not a home theater and we don't need that for the kids to watch. You can get it pretty loud and clear.

We still have to get a blu-ray but even the pictures from the dvd look clear.

Eventually we'll try hooking up a pc to this and see how that looks. The only thing I wished for these tv's was to have built in wi-fi instead of having to buy an adapter. Cha-ching!

Definitely buy this tv. Especially for the price you will NOT regret it.

Westinghouse SK-26H240S - 26" LCD TV - widescreen - 720p - HDTV - black

Westinghouse SK-26H240S - 26" LCD TV - widescreen - 720p - HDTV - black Review

I was in the market for the largest TV i could afford back in 2007, I was at best buy and saw this model and the picture looked great on the display model I am legally blind so for me a large screen tv is a need more so then a luxury. Though i suppose it could be considered both in my case as well.

Either way, I am video/broadcast student so I went into this purchase with some understanding about A/V the typical consumer might not. For example, I have read both gripes and praises about this television set. The main issues were concerning A/v sync with analog video though a small percentage have commented on digital challenges too.

First of all I tried all the connection types and tried to reproduce the issues on purpose and I was unable to. so no complaints here.

Second, why would anyone expect analog signal to be perfect on a DIGITAL TV, they are two different technologies.
A rule of thumb is an LCD looks best at it's native resolution which analog won't even come close to on an HDTV.

Third the sync could have been caused by all kinds of factors that don't need to be listed here either way I talked to westinghouse and was told it was only a small percentage of tvs in comparrison to the mass production that had this issue.

I did however find a firmware update today for the tv from westing house and applied it.. While i didn't have any issues i find it good practice to stay up to date.

All is great for blu ray digital antena even my theater in a box with component is very satisfactory for standard dvd that isn't upconverted.

About audio: I don't care how good the tv speakers are you won't get the true experience of the movie without an eternal receiver and speakers. It just won't happen tvs were not built to be a theater they were built to be a display that's why we have separate ampliries.
The bottom line is this is a great tv like any other product it has bad ones come off the plant and since it runs linux software sometimes has bugs that need to be fixed. yes the tv has linux based firmware so it's actually running linux in a form.

Bottom line it's a good tv for a good price not the most expensive but it's good for what it's intended use is.

HANNspree JT01-32U1-000G Xv Series 32-Inch LCD HDTV

HANNspree JT01-32U1-000G Xv Series 32-Inch LCD HDTV Review

I purchased the 37" version of this set and I'm overall satisfied. I'm reviewing here because it appears that the online store where I purchased it will only post absolutely glowing reviews. I purchased based on the fact that 98 reviews were all positive (4&5star). Here is what I tried to post there:
Like the previous hundred people, I was impressed with the HD picture quality for such a reasonable price, 0. It "sometimes" isn't as good as my 23" Toshiba LCD that gets the "over the airwave" HD picture through a DigitalStream HD3150plus tuner with a HDMI cable. I believe this may be due to the size of the Hannspree screen, 37". If you use the zoom feature and set it to ½ size, it is comparable to the Toshiba. Anyone who has expanded a video file on a computer screen knows that it degrades if you get it too big. Some TV shows are actually broadcast in a much smaller screen size, which you can see by pressing the "Wide" button and going to "no scale". One thing I found annoying with the zoom feature, that in my opinion, makes it useless, is when the white box with a smaller black box inside, pops into the middle of the screen with the size (2x, 4x, 1/32, 1/2 etc.) also in the middle, to the right of the box, that's showing you how much you have zoomed. The box and writing can't be turned off, so you can't actually watch anything in anything but the standard mode. I'm hoping that there is some kind of a software upgrade to fix this in the future or Hannspree changes this in the next production.

The next thing I found disappointing is that the POP/PIP (picture-in-picture) can't capture a picture from both the "Airwave" and "Cable" at the same time, for this feature. You have to draw the second picture from another source such as a VCR, DVD, PC, or something through one of the HDMI connections.

Then regarding a second and third source, the AV and S-vid connection use the same "audio in" connection, so you can only use one or the other OR constantly be plugging and unplugging audio depending on the source. If one of your sources also has component or HDMI connection (as mine did) you can buy a new set of cables to overcome this problem.

The last thing, that I find just plain stupid, is that the "audio out" is not controlled by the volume or mute switch. Even my 17 year old 32" TV was designed with that much foresight. So if you have it hooked to an amp and speakers for better sound quality, you have to walk across the room to turn it down on commercials (that as you know, usually jack the volume up). I'm not sure if the SPDIF Optical output is controlled by the volume switch or not.

My conclusion is that it is a good TV, but with a little thought by the designer, it could have been a great TV with little or no additional cost. Time to go back to the drawing board.

P.S. A signal strength meter would be a very nice feature to have. If I hadn't had one on my DigitalStream tuner, I could have never done the much needed, critical fine tuning on my antenna (aiming and tilting)that allowed me to pick up 3 additional over the airwave channels.

LG 42LGX 42-Inch 1080p 120hz LCD HDTV

LG 42LGX 42-Inch 1080p 120hz LCD HDTV Review

I searched high and low for a 40 to 42in TV and this was the best deal on the market. I was being told by salesmen (and reviews) that Samsungs had the best picture and I found them to look pretty good as well. But for the price range I was in (00) I was not finding the specs I wanted. (120Hz, 42in, 1080p, auto light adjust, swivel base) As a matter of fact, it was very hard to find a reputable TV maker with a 120Hz 42 in that price point. Then I stumbled across the 42LGX. I thought the TV was stunning looking with the scarlet red on the back, the chrome colored base and the clear, see-through power circle. It had all those specs and the picture was absolutely stunning! I looked at it side by side next to a comparable Samsung and the pictures were very similar. When comparing to the Samsung models in the same price, the picture was better. Samsung would only offer a 60Hz TV at that price point with a 40in screen. It just looked way smaller. The LG was a no brainer. The only thing that made the decision difficult was the 42LG70. It had the exact same specs, but it wasn't 1.8in thick. It was on clearance as a display model for 0 and the LGX was brand new for 9. The Samsung closest in price and features was about 00. I ended up buying at Fryes Electronics with a 5 year warranty and I'm very happy with the deal.

I use the TV with my computer (I disconnected my cable TV) to watch movies and TV shows over the internet and it works great. I use Windows Media Center and I have no problem getting full and wide screen shows in high def. I also use a video capture card that gives me all the features of a HD DVR. I get HD over the air and it looks way better than cable or satellite on this TV. The TV works very well as a second monitor with the DVI connection. You cannot tell if you're watching TV piped from the computer or directly on the TV - it looks that good. Also, when people see it, they can't believe I don't have cable.

I would highly recommend this TV to anyone. Easy to set up - I didn't even make any changes to the color settings at all. Right out the box, it looked great. And the menus and just so simple. It's fairly light, connections are easy to make, it's just a great looking TV. If you can find it on sale, buy it! You won't be sorry.

Sony Bravia S-Series KDL-40S4100 40-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV Review

This is my first ever HDTV so I can't compare it to others, but I am consistently blown away by the image quality when watching BluRay movies and playing PS3, and can't imagine how it could be much better.

However, I live in a small apartment and bought a pair of headphones for my wife so she could watch her girly TV series in private, ... until I realized that there is nowhere to plug in external headphones. It has RCA-out for an amplifier, but no headphones? Come on, even a black & white telly has that!!

While on the subject of sound: when watching BluRay, the difference between soft and loud volume is so great that I constantly find myself increasing and decreasing the volume. This TV could really have benefited from a Night Mode, and sadly the PS3 does not seem to have one either.

Samsung UN46B6000 46-Inch 1080p 120 Hz LED HDTV

Samsung UN46B6000 46-Inch 1080p 120 Hz LED HDTV Review

I have several HDTVs. A Panasonic plasma V10 and an older Sony CCFL LCD set. Samsung is missing an important feature the competitors all have -- picture zoom of a high def signal. When watching a Blu-ray, for example, I prefer to eliminate the black horizontal bars of the common super-wide films by zooming equally in both directions. This Samsung can't do it.

On a postive note, the picture quality is quite good with excellent brightness and colors. There is some backlight bleeding in the corners during dark scenes, but is only noticeable with my room's lights out. The game mode actually turns off some of the processing to speed up the response - very nice. Samsung provides a full assortment of picture adjustments too.

Audio quality from the built in speakers is noticeably worse than my Sony. Perhaps because the speakers do not fire forward, I don't know.

In summary, a good television that doesn't use environmentally poor flourescent backlighting with a great picture. If you're looking for comprehensive zoom functionality, try a different manufacturer.

Sony KDL-40XBR5 - 40" BRAVIA XBR LCD TV - 120Hz - widescreen - 1080p (FullHD) - HDTV Review

It was shipped in a very secure container and was flawless. It was a snap to set the TV up and use. No instruction needed and the picture is wonderful. I am very pleased with this purchase. I do believe it was a little expensive being that it was a discontinued model but I wanted this set. The first one ordered was from a seller who indicated that the set was damaged in transit. I am glad that I took a chance on another seller/vendor.

It makes a difference who you purchase an item from. Electronic Expo is a name I will look for in the future.

Sony Bravia S-Series KDL-46S3000 46-Inch 720p LCD HDTV

Sony Bravia S-Series KDL-46S3000 46-Inch 720p LCD HDTV Review

I am NOT a tech person, just average with TV's & PC's. The Sony Bravia was a snap to hook up, I used one HDMI cable from the cable box, and the other HDMI cable from the DVD into the back of the Sony Bravia, and I was all done! Simple. The set looks outstanding, and comes with a clear manual of instructions. It will do a lot more than I need (i.e. PIP) and yet it is simple to operate. An excellent buy for the money, and a Consumer Reports "Best Buy" in their recent magazine (according to my brother who noticed it). I highly recommend this set since 720p is what the stations will be broadcasting in and the picture is fabulous.

BRAVIA Engine Full Digital Video Processor
BRAVIA S-Series LCD televisions use Sony's BRAVIA Engine full digital video processor for crisp and clear images. Several special picture enhancement technologies are integrated into the processor to create better gradations with more detail, enhance contrast, and dynamically improve color performance. > Digital Noise Reduction Circuits: Reduces block noise and mosquito noise by using pixel-level filtering to reproduce a clean and clear picture. And Motion Vector Noise Reduction reduces just the noise in the video signal for video further reducing unwanted noise and blur artifacts. Digital Contrast Enhancer circuit: Improves contrast by enhancing all areas from dark to bright in parallel with texture control providing a three dimensional picture. > Color Reality signal processing enables the expression of all the colors of life in vivid detail for dark and bright scenes. Details in dark areas of the picture are there, just like they are supposed to be.

Live Color Creation (featuring WCG-CCFL)
Live Color Creation is a special Sony function that achieves precise, wide color reproduction using a combination of advanced chroma signal processing algorithms. A special wide color gamut backlight (WCG-CCFL) is coupled with Sony’s Live Color Creation circuitry. The benefit is clear blues, natural greens and overall vibrant colors in all scenes.

Xross Media Bar (XMB) On-Screen Menu System
Xross Media Bar is Sony’s Emmy Award2 winning on-screen navigation that provides quick access to various set up functions and features. For instance selecting different types of media is made fun and easy by scrolling horizontally across icons until you find the type of media you are looking for. After selecting the media type, a list of its content appears as vertical thumbnails. Key set up menus and features work the same way. The main benefit of the XMB is that users can navigate through on-screen menus without taking their eyes off of their TV.

DMe Compatibility
DMex compatibility allows the connection and operation of a whole new category of products that is being developed by Sony (sold separately). The first of these products is the optional BRAVIA Internet Video Link module.

BRAVIA Theatre Sync
BRAVIA Theatre Sync reduces the hassle and time consuming job of powering up, changing the signal routing, and adjusting other functions to the simple push of one button. All you need to do is to connect BRAVIA Theatre Sync capable products to each other via one HDMI cable. The rest is easy. For instance, the One Push Play function activates by touching the play button on the remote and BRAVIA Theatre Sync takes over from there. The BRAVIA Home Theatre System and TV turn on. The DVD input on the BRAVIA Theatre system and TV activates. The TV mutes. And finally the DVD plays. There are two other BRAVIA Theatre Sync functions - One-Push Theatre Settings, which provides optimal picture and sound settings for movies and One-Push System Shut Down for turning off the entire home entertainment system.

BRAVIA Internet Video Link
The first DMex product to be introduced to the market is the DMX-NV1 BRAVIA Internet Video Link module (sold separately). BIVL, as it is affectionately called, can stream available Internet video from select content providers directly to your TV with a broadband connection3 without the need for a PC.

S-Force Front Surround
S-Force Front Surround is a virtual surround sound experience made possible using just two front speakers in select BRAVIA models. To accomplish this, Sony spent several years studying how our ears work. By understanding exactly how we recognize the origin, direction, volume and timing differences in sound right and left ear, Sony was able to create complex audio processing that delivers dynamic virtual surround sound without the need to bounce sound off walls and back to the listener.

HDMI and PC Connectivity
Designed for maximum versatility, Sony’s BRAVIA S-Series Digital LCD TV line is equipped with a comprehensive range of input interfaces. The HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface) is the first industry-supported, uncompressed, all-digital audio/video interface. HDMI technology supports enhanced or High Definition video, together with multi-channel digital audio to provide matchless image and sound reproduction. The HDMI and PC inputs (HD-15-pin) offer easy connection to your PC, allowing you to use your high resolution BRAVIA S-Series Digital TV as a computer monitor.

Light Sensor-2
Intelligently adjusts the screen brightness to match the ambient light in a room, ensuring a comfortable viewing experience. In a dim room for example the screen automatically reduces brightness making it much more comfortable for viewing.
Freeze Function
Sony’s Freeze Function is a useful function that allows you to temporarily freeze the picture in a separate screen while the programming continues to display. This comes in handy when you want to copy a recipe, phone number, etc. that flashes too quickly across your screen. Simply touch the "Freeze" button on the remote control and copy the details down at your convenience.

Eviant T7-01 7-Inch Handheld Digital TV

Eviant T7-01 7-Inch Handheld Digital TV Review

I feel this is a great emergency portable TV; that could be used in emergencies, in the kitchen, in the bathroom, while you're working on jobs, suburban camping, on the patio, etc...

This TV set has both an analog and a digital tuner; which enables me to get TV signals from over the air or cable. Surprisingly I found out that my cable also broadcasts some local digital signals on the cable; so surprisingly I found out that I could get analog and some digital channels on my basic cable tier.

I live in a trailer so I'm surrounded by metal and I can't get local over the air TV signals unless I put the antenna near a window then I can get a few local channels. However I try to simulate an emergency by sticking the antenna on the roof and standing with the TV by the door and I was able to pull in a surprising amount of channels; much more than I even can pull in with an analog TV with the antenna outside. The TV tuner seems to be reasonably sensitive. On the one I got the VHF seems to be fairly sensitive and I can pull in the same basic channels that I could with my old TV. The UHF tuner seems to be more sensitive than my old TV and antenna so I can receive more basic channels that I used to. So I can receive about the same number of commercial broadcast channels; but I pick up more stations because of multi-broadcasting. The amount of public broadcasting stations channels that I can pick up is more; and is multiplied by multi-casting; so I could pick up many more stations over the air.

I'm giving this TV set five stars because it's better than I expected and it's an excellent value for the price I paid for it.

I read a review from someone that said that the channels had to be rescanned every time that the TV was powered on; that's not true. I found that if you let it finish its scan, it will reboot and rescan a second time and then it will store and remember the channels. I switched back and forth between antenna and cable scan profiles and it remembered each profile.

The downside is that the remote control doesn't have numbers, so it has very limited controls, so you have to scroll through the channels, so if you have a lot of channels it can take a long time to scroll through all of them. I received about 37 channels over the air and about 90 on my basic cable tier. It would be nice if it had numbers so you could just key in the channel. It of course lacks a last channel button; which I missed because I often flip back and forth between two programs. I haven't yet found a universal remote that lists this TV brand, and the universal remote automatic code search wouldn't work with it, because the automatic code search turns off the TV when it gets to the right code, however this TVs remote system does not turn the TV set on and off. I think TV manufacturer made the TV with a hardwire on and off switch so the remote sensor would not run down the TV when it's not in use and powered by batteries.

One thing that is kind of a poor design. They came up with a great idea of putting a couple slots and holes so you could hang the TV by the wall, regretfully the positions they put the holes in the slots is to hang the TV by its side instead of horizontally. So regretfully it's not safe to to watch the TV horizontally with the holes that are manufactured in the TV to hang it. The holes are manufactured into the TV are only to store the TV. It's a great space-saving storage feature, but it would've been better if they would've made the holes so you could hang the TV horizontally on a wall so you could watch it on the wall.

The TV I received had two different antennas, I really liked the magnetic mount antenna with a few feet of wire. It's great because I can stick the antenna on top of my trailer or on the top of my car and run the wire through the door window in an emergency situation.

Regretfully the TV package Amazon is currently buying from the manufacturer does not contain a cigarette lighter adapter. The battery run time seems to be about two hours (which is good for TV with this big of a screen), regretfully it's not user replaceable. If you have a car with cigarette lighter and an adapter you could always use the TV's battery; until a commercial and then go out your vehicle for power. The sound is tinny; which is what I would expect from a small cheap TV with small speakers.

I gave this TV five stars because I think it's a great buy or the price and because it's better than the other TVs I've tried its size and in its price range.

In my opinion the big winning features are.

It has an internal battery so in an emergency it can be used for about two hours off the battery.

It's powered by 12 V, so with an adapter it can easily be run off of common automotive batteries. With the provided power supply it can be run off US House current.

It comes with a remote.

The tuner is both analog and digital. (So I can run it off my cable, and in an emergency I can use an antenna).

It's a cable ready TV, that comes with two different types of antennas. One of the antennas has a cable with a magnetic mount.

Sony Bravia KLV-S32A10 32-Inch LCD WEGA HD-Ready Flat Panel Television

Sony Bravia KLV-S32A10 32-Inch LCD WEGA HD-Ready Flat Panel Television Review

Sony has always made great electronics, old tube WEGAs, their notebooks and desktops are awesome and this TV is excellent. I just wanted something bigger and better than the old 20' WEGA tube. The form factor on this is perfect for a decent sized apartment. The speakers are fine, one person can move it easily and you can put it almost anywhere.

DVDs with whatever DVD player is hooked up to it look awesome. There really isn't anything worth watching on cable so I just use a regular old antenna with decent gain. It's not the perfect picture that you could trade your first born to Comcast to get but it looks pretty good. If you are thinking of a Sony, be sure to check out the Samsung LCDs as well, they look pretty sweet and many have more inputs if you want to plug more stuff into it in the future.

Toshiba REGZA 55ZV650U 55-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV with ClearScan 240, Black

Toshiba REGZA 55ZV650U 55-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV with ClearScan 240, Black Review

I've had this for about two months now and I bought this together with Onkyo ht-s7200, briteview cinematube, and a sauder wall mount furniture. I also bought an inexpensive cheetah wallmount which I used to mount this to the sauder furniture. At first, I felt the TV was too big, I got a bit nauseous staring at it but I found out that it was just too bright. So after a couple of adjustments, it was easy to look at.

The TV is not really 240hz, the software only projects a 240hz but still the picture clarity is very good. Rated high in consumer reviews so I am glad I bought this one. The only thing I wish it had is an automatic picture adjustment to that if scene is in 4:3 it would automatically adjust to 16:9. There are a lot of features which I don't really use that much. Viewing angle is ok although it reflects some image from my window.

It's a perfect blend to my new Onkyo home theater. I enjoy watching movies again.

Toshiba REGZA 55ZV650U 55-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV with ClearScan 240, Black Feature

Samsung LN22B360 22-Inch 720p LCD HDTV

Samsung LN22B360 22-Inch 720p LCD HDTV Review

Have had this HDTV for several weeks and am using it in our kitchen. We have a pretty small cabinet space for the TV, so I needed to purchase one this small. That said, it is probably just a bit small for kitchen use (we have a combined kitchen and dining space, so not infrequently we are 20 feet from the screen.

I am happy with the TV, but will still be looking for another bigger one with dimensions that would still fit our cabinet.

What I can tell you is that the picture is very good, but has the limitations of all LCD TVs--if you are viewing at an angle the picture deteriorates. This is not a fault of the brand, just a fact of life for these very inexpensive LCDs. We use it connected straight to our cable provider (no cable box) and it works perfectly.

The TV was easy to set up and has operated flawlessly.

My biggest criticism is the audio quality, it is pretty bad. We have in fact added some inexpensive desktop computer speakers (using the included earphone port) and this has greatly improved the sound. This tells you something because these computer speakers aren't great themselves. I suppose the problem is the TV is just so small that they can't build in decent speakers.

I took off one star due the the poor audio. Otherwise, this is a very nice TV for very little cost.

Samsung LN22B360 22-Inch 720p LCD HDTV Feature

  • 22-inch high definition TV with 720p resolution
  • One HDMI, two component, and one composite video input
  • Improved picture with 15,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio, 8ms response time and Wide Color Enhancer 2 technology
