This TV has a great high definition picture, not so much on digital channels that are not HD. I paid around 0 for this TV and use it in my kitchen. I would not pay that now for it since prices have come down. Probably would go with the 450 model on such a small TV, no real reason to spend the extra for the 650 and higher unless the Touch of color appeals to you. Don't think there is much difference in picture quality between the two as the picture quality of the 650 via digital cable is pretty bad. Has a serious lag when turning on and off as well.
The TV is great! Clear and sharp, great color, sound is good. The unit does not have built in Blu-ray though. I was told the add was incorrect and given the oppurtunity to get a refund, but chose to accept it and got a reduction in price.
This Polaroid DVD player also works as a regular TV and comes with a 181-channel cable-ready television tuner. What's more, this amazing under-cabinet player has a digital AM/FM stereo tuner that comes with 20 preset stations. The two 2.5-watt built-in stereo speakers deliver crisp, clear sound anywhere and everywhere, while the automatic channel programming makes setup incredibly easy. And as if that wasn't enough, this unit includes a built-in clock with a battery backup and an alarm and sleep timer.
With variable-height mounting, the FDM-700A will fit in virtually any cabinet and comes with an extremely handy, full-function remote control with a built-in magnet that allows you to store it upright on any metal surface, such as your refrigerator door. This Polaroid TV/DVD combo has a rear A/V input and a rear ANT coaxial input to connect to, allowing you to hook up a VCR, gaming console, or camcorder. Compact and unobtrusive, this unit weighs a modest 4.5 pounds and measures a slim three-inches high (with the screen in the up position), by 14-inches wide and 11.25 inches deep. The FDM-700A also features an on-screen display menu, sub-title selection, language selection, zoom, fast and slow forward/backward and step forward functions, and parental locks to make sure your kids don't watch inappropriate shows.

Samsung LN52A650 52-Inch 1080p 120 Hz LCD HDTV with Red Touch of Color
I bought this TV back in July of 2008 for 00. I have to say that this TV has proven to be a great product that has kept pace with the 2010 LCD models. Other than the new 2 inch LED models coming out this TV has a great picture quality whem combined with a good HD source (PS3, HD Set-top-box). Obviously this model has been replaced by the 750 and even the LN52B650 but when doing a side by side comparison the picture appears just as good. Samsung has released new features to the newer models but most of them are either marketing gimmicks are can be done with external hardware like a PS3. My only issue with this TV was the speakers, prior to setting up my receiver/5.1 setup the audio was very weak. I felt I had to set the audio to 60+ (TV was in a large open room), this is a minor issue as I would imagine most people purchasing a TV of this price have matched it up with at least a HT in a box.
Key Features | Samsung’s Series 6 marks the first appearance of TOC (Touch of Color) design in the 2008 LCD HDTV line-up. Inspired by designs from the automotive and fashion industries, Samsung’s unique unique Transparent and Opaque Color molding process creates a clean, smooth finish infused with a hint of a translucent color during the manufacturing process for an ultra-sleek appearance. |
 | Up-to-the-minute access to weather, news, sports and stock information is just a cable and a click away through the HDTV’s Ethernet port and new InfoLink RSS service. An all-new user interface with digital contents management guide provides intuitive navigation and access to both internal and external content. |
 | This technology doubles the frame rate from 60 to 120 frames per second (120Hz LCD panel) without repeating the same image to make more frames. Instead, the TV intelligently calculates the ‘middle’ image between frame A and frame B and inserts it in between (Auto Motion Plus 120Hz processor), making a fluid transition from one frame to the next. | |
  | Samsung enhances the clarity of select LCD HDTVs by replacing the light-diffusing plastic face of traditional LCD HDTVs with a natural black panel with a clear anti-glare shield. Reduced reflection of external light creates a new dimension in image clarity, highlighting black and darkened areas, enabling vibrant, more compelling colors and a brighter, clearer picture. Black will never again appear grayish. Black details will show in vivid black even in dark scenes. The latest version of Samsung’s breakthrough super clear panel technology makes colors appear more vibrant and blacks even deeper than ever. Enhanced films reduce glare and optimize off-angle viewing. |
 | 50,000:1 Dynamic Contrast Ratio will give you a picture better than you ever thought possible, with whiter whites, blacker blacks and a nearly infinite subtlety of gradations in between. As two of the most important determining factors in overall picture quality, contrast and brightness levels achieve new heights in this latest generation LCD panel. Samsung’s new LCD TV’s give the most stunning realistic picture quality ever. |
 | Full HD, or 1080p, contains 1.5 times more scanning lines than conventional HD TVs. More scanning lines mean more pixels, more details and a better picture. The new Samsung LCD TV with resolution that is approximately 2 times greater than conventional HDTVs, creating the most perfect picture imaginable. Samsung’s 1080p panel uses a new high-speed liquid crystal to cut response time to 4ms. The fast response time, coupled with Samsung’s Auto Motion Plus 120Hz motion blur reduction technology dramatically reduces motion blur and judder. | |
 | DNIe™ The Samsung Digital Natural Image engine. This exclusive Samsung technology dramatically improves the picture by enhancing the contrast, detail, white balance and reduces. | |
| The NTSC (National Television Systems Committee) has established the color standards all TVs in America try to meet. And typical LCD TVs only meet about 72% of this standard. Samsung LCD HDTVs use Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamp backlights to give you 92% coverage of the NTSC standard, ensuring truer, more breathlessly vivid colors. Samsung’s exclusive Wide Color Enhancer technology delivers more brilliant colors, even in bright areas of the picture where blues and greens are washed out on conventional screens. The system displays wider color reproduction, showing you truer colors – the fresh green of spring foliage, the intense blue of the summer sky. | |||

 | To make the Series 6 a true entertainment hub for any home, Samsung has incorporated advanced HD connectivity and networking capabilities that expand the HDTV’s functionality. A wide variety of multimedia devices can be connected to the set through any one of the four Simplay compliant HDMI 1.3 inputs (including one on the side), and the handy HDMICEC feature lets you control all your CEC-enabled peripherals using just one remote. Connect HD digital devices like disc players, game consoles, and satellite dish components into the 2 rear connections and use the side-mounted input for cameras, camcorders, and laptops. HDMI is the best performing interface for displaying an HD source on an HDTV. Once connected, users can easily access device menus and manage and display content through the newly redesigned Wheel Key Remote control and the HDTV’s sophisticated content management interface. All Connections
|
 | Samsung’s Super Patterned Vertical Alignment (SPVA) panel provides a 178-degree viewing angle from all four axes |
 | With standard-definition TVs, the rule used to be that viewers would feel comfortable watching a set from a distance of 3 to 6 times the screen size in inches. With HDTV, the resolution is so much better that you can sit closer to a larger TV without noticing the pixels. So with HDTVs, the rule tends to be you can sit anywhere from 1.5 to 3 times the screen size (in inches) for the best experience.

Purchased from Amazon. White glove delivery was seamless. They unpacked the set, attached the swivel stand, placed it on the media console and hooked it up to the cablebox. All I had to do was supervise. Now let's talk about the 55LD650 itself.
Picture Quality. Considering there are no reviews out yet, I considered it somewhat of a gamble to purchase this new LG model (which according to the sticker was built in February of this year). But after watching HD programing for a few hours, my concerns evaporated. The picture quality is impressive. This is my first LCD. I've always been a plasma guy and have two Pannys, so I had my concerns. Howver, after watching Monsters vs Aliens, I definitely have no complaints about the PQ. The images on the 55 inch screen popped beautifully. So much so that my kids even asked if it was in 3D!
Off-Angle Viewing. Viewing the TV from various angles (even extreme ones), I can confirm that this set did not have any noticeable degradation in picture quality from off-angle viewing(unlike some Sonys I looked at). Very impressive.
Glare. This was the main reason I sought out an LCD set, since the TV resides in a very bright room with two sides of floor-to-ceiling windows. This eliminated the plasma option (though we first tried a Sammy plasma and aside from the mirror-like glare, we couldn't handle the loud buzzing noise it made). While there's some glare on this TV when it's not on, there was nothing noticeable on the matte sceen when watching programs.
All in all, I'm very pleased with 55ld650 thus far.
What a sweet deal! This TV is awesome! A great picture, lots of inputs for all my equipment, and superb sound. It came as promised, on time, I was notified by a call 30 minutes prior to arrival, the drivers brought it in and took it out of the box for my inspection, and left with the empty box to boot. I have owned and had for varying lengths of time an RCA, Samsung, Sanyo, LG, and others. I have returned all of them because the viewing angles were narrow, or the sound was horrible, or the picture wasn't that great, or a combination of all 3 reasons. Vizio rocks! There isn't a bad seat in the house, and I only use my home theater sound system for special movies because the sound is so good on this set. You can't go wrong with this set, and being an "older, refurbished" model, was 0-0 less than any other of the same size. By all means, run, do not walk, to get this TV. You won't be sorry.
Let me start by saying this TV completely spoiled regular tv that we are all used to. As my buddies and I watched our first HD movie with the ambilight full surround, within 10 minutes we all agreed watching tv without ambilight will never be the same again! The ambilight brought the tv to life, it's a whole new world. Picture quality is great, and I love the picture auto-format option. One cool feature is the demos you can view on live television. The philips tv sort of splits the screen and shows you what your picture looks like with and without Clear LCD and Pixel Plus 3. The difference is extremely noticable.
Sound is good, its loud, clear, and nice base.
Although the screen is 42 inches diagonal, the tv is approximately 50 inches wide. This is due to the black border of the tv and the white background that was added to reflect the ambilight. It's a brilliant looking tv, very luxurious.
One thing I was dissappointed about was the memorycard/media option. I like to edit and create videos and convert them to DivX, Avi, MPEG files. I thought I would be able to play those types of media files right off my of SD card. Turns out you cant. Just pictures, music, and .alb files.
The remote is very nice looking, and the back of the tv has multiple inputs.
Overall, your tv/viewing experience will never be the same once you get used to ambilight. It really makes a world of difference and you will love it... especially with the different modes of ambilight. You will fall in love with the tv, bottom line.
I have owned this TV for over a year now and the picture quality is awesome!
I compared LCD & Plasma TVs side by side prior to purchasing one and I was very impressed with this TV.
Haven't had any problems.
The quality of this brand is outstanding. The colors are bright and vivid and the picture is clear. The viewing angles are amazing at 178 degrees, which puts you pretty much standing right along side the tv. Its a good idea to view all the sellers for this product, because I was able to find one who offered free shipping, and that made the purchase all the more attractive. The price is a little bit more then other brands, but I promise, you won't be unhappy with this lcd once you get it. I liked my first Bravia so much, this makes my third purchase of this brand.
I finally took the plunge for an HD set. At the time that I last set up my home theater - HD had _just_ come on market. Some early CRT-based HD sets were available, but the specification wasn't quite there, and certainly content availability was very low. The sets were _very_ expensive as well. So I simply opted for a high-end Standard Def. set from Sony.
Things were fine for a long time.
Then the LCD sets came on the market. Vendors wanted more money for what was, to my eyes, an inferior picture. CRT based sets were quickly discontinued - not necessarily because LCD technology was superior (it certainly wasn't) - but because such sets take much less floor space on a show room floor. The poor color representation, and pixelization, and motion blur of LCD sets turned me off, and Plasma wasn't much better. I just couldn't see spending more money for a worse picture, even if the set had physical advantages in terms of space, and power savings.
Well, fast forward to today. After looking over several Samsung models - I ended up purchasing this set. It's by no means the current "best available" at this point - but considering the price and quality it's quite good. The black levels on this set are amazing (none of that dark gray = black). The color representation is excellent. And, so far, judder and motion blur seem acceptably low.
Hi-definition sportscasts look amazing. NHL and NBA (currently in-season) look fantastic - the gleam of the ice or the court, or the reflections off the glass barriers is really something to see.
The X-Box 360 looks fantastic in 1080p - and video games don't seem to have any real lag between the control and updates of on-screen action.
The 3:2 pulldown, movie mode (24 fps) looks quite alright so far. Several DVDs (don't have the Blu-Ray yet) look almost Hi-Def when up-sampled (several guests have been amazed that it wasn't actually a Hi-Def source).
All in all, pleasantly happy with this set, and looking forward to several years of viewing pleasure.

We had been looking at many plasma and lcd flat screens and even tossed around a large screen dlp. We have a 52 inch lcd Toshiba that is in a family room and wanted a larger screen in what we call our gathering room off of the kitchen. After going around to many electronic stores we went with the LG60PG60.Being able to view the many flat screens together it was obvious. For the money and picture quality it was LG.
We also went with a Samsung surround sound system ,Sony Blue Ray and a APC H15 line conditioner and surge protector. And you have to hang it on the wall, looks fantastic !
This Sony TV lives up to all of the industry and Amazon reviews. It is very attractive with any decor, easy to set up and can truly be viewed from almost any angle with excellent picture quality. I would say it is ideal for a viewing distance of up to about 12-15 feet. If you are going to view it at more than this distance, I would get a larger one.
I didn't have any problems with ordering, shipping, etc. The only negative I have to say is that the remote is not very rugged, which is surprising given the high ticket price. Couldn't they put a few extra dollars and give people a nice remote.
You definitely will not be disappointed with this TV for sporting events, correct rendering of flesh tones and adjusting to brightness within a room. Compared to other HDTVs without all of these useful (sometimes essential) features, it's not an apples to apples comparison. If you get one of the less expensive types, the color changes when viewed from an angle, the brightness isn't quite right, etc. Spend the extra money and get something decent, a TV is generally something you will use for a long time.
Feature List
7th Generation Sony® LCD Panel: The Sony® S-Series LCD TVs use 7th generation Sony LCD panels for truly matchless image quality and performance. These panels are produced from one of the world’s biggest mother glass to efficiently create large, high quality panels. The LCD high definition display (1366 x 768) that is used offers an astounding 178 degree viewing angle, very fast response times (8 ms total rise and fall time) and a spectacular contrast ratio.
BRAVIA Engine™ Full Digital Video Processor: BRAVIA™ S-Series Digital LCD televisions use Sony's BRAVIA Engine™ full digital video processor for crisp and clear images. Several special picture enhancement technologies are integrated into the processor to create better gradations and details, enhance contrast, dynamically improve color, and reduce image flicker.
HDMI™ and PC Connectivity: Designed for maximum versatility, Sony’s S-Series Digital LCD TV line is equipped with a comprehensive range of input interfaces. The HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface) is the first industry-supported, uncompressed, all-digital audio/video interface. HDMI technology supports enhanced or High Definition video, together with multi-channel digital audio to provide matchless image and sound reproduction. The PC input (HD-15-pin) offers easy connection to your PC, allowing you to use your high resolution BRAVIA S-Series Digital TV as a computer monitor.
Light Sensor Intelligently adjusts the screen brightness to match the ambient light in a room, ensuring a comfortable viewing experience. In a dim room for example the screen automatically reduces brightness making it much more comfortable for viewing.
SRS® TruSurround® XT: Building on the success of TruSurround technology, TruSurround XT audio adds three new audio enhancement technologies to produce an amazingly immersive sound experience. Dialog Clarity brings movie dialog into "focus" during the playback of any surround-encoded material to make speech much clearer and crisper. TruBass creates incredible deep rich bass allowing a person to perceive significantly deeper, richer low bass tones that are far beyond the physical low frequency capabilities of the speaker itself. And WOW widens the soundstage by processing standard two-channel stereo material as well as multi-channel encoded material for a dramatic improvement in the playback of any stereo audio over a two-speaker system.
Freeze Function: Sony’s Freeze Function is a useful function that allows you to temporarily freeze the picture in a separate screen while the programming continues to display. This comes in handy when you want to copy a recipe, phone number, etc. that flashes too quickly across your screen. Simply touch the "Freeze" button on the remote control and copy the details down at your convenience.
I bought this for the exclusive purpose of dismantling it from its stand and making a little monitor I could use with a Mac Mini that I brought with me on vacation last year. I was pleasantly surprised to realize that not just the base is plastic space filler, but the majority of the surrounding as well. Perhaps being so much larger than the actual screen helps the speakers, which need space behind them to sound good, but I didn't use the audio feature of this TV at all, really. Seemed good, but I didn't listen enough to rate it.
Instead of as a TV, I used its SVGA plug - a truly awesome feature, Digital TVs shouldn't ever be sold without computer-compatible inputs. To give the electronics some structure other than the screen itself, I joined the two metal endplates of the screen's edge support with a sheet of polycarbonate from Home Depot that I had drilled holes in all the appropriate places, so I could reposition the button circuit board on the back of the unit, with the buttons slightly recessed.
I used SwitchResX to set up the 800x480 resolution; can't remember the exact settings but it was pretty easy to make the custom resolution, way way easier than it ever was in Linux.
End result: a full fledged computer that fit into a box smaller than any laptop does, with power supplies monitor, and even speakers for the beeps. Smaller box than even those new "minis" from Dell or HP can fit into! (laptop minis flat, but broad..) I think it was a Sony picture frame box, actually.
Still works and looks good too, even thru all that abuse. So if you are gonna use it regularly with a computer, and leave it in the case, I'm sure it'd last a long time.
I frequently entertain friends, family and guests from the neighborhood with weekend barbecues, and the cookout space in my backyard is the toast of the town. We've got tables set up, a marble pool and a trampoline for the kids, but until now everyone had to relocate inside once the traditional "Movie Night" portion of the evening kicked off. Now, don't get me wrong: the entertainment setup in my living room is a thing of beauty, but with mountain view we have from our back yard, it's a crime not to be able to sit under the stars, relax with a drink, and enjoy a movie with company.
That changed when I purchased this 46-inch all-weather LCD TV (which, oddly enough, is mounted on a brick-wall backdrop similar to the one pictured here). Now I can screen my favorite films in my back yard without having to worry about the elements putting a damper on the evening or wreaking havoc on my TV.
The aluminum casing is excellent and protects against all types of adverse weather -- rain, snow, fog, wind. I of course don't recommend leaving this thing outside in a storm or hurricane, but there is no need to pack things up and bring the party inside just because it starts sprinkling (my enclosure is covered, too, which certainly helps protect the TV.)
Looking on Amazon's site, it appears this is the only all-weather HDTV of its kind, so it goes without saying that if you're looking to extend your home entertainment center to the outdoors, you cannot go wrong with this set.
I may be a little biased since both of the HDTVs I own now are LG, but in my opinion the 32LF11 is an excellent high-def television. The other LG I own is a 47" and I am not sure of the exact model, it's 2 years old, but it is "full HD" (1080p). We are using the 32LF11 as the TV for our living room, while the bigger one is in the game room. When I first received the 32LF11 I hooked up my HD DirecTV signal to it, while I used the built in digital tuner in the other TV to receive an over-the-air HD signal. Both pictures were excellent, but I had to admit to my wife, who will primarily be watching the new 32LF11, that I almost prefer that picture over the one in the game room. It is an excellent crisp picture, and I didn't have any problems with the black levels. The sound was very good as well, about as much as you can expect from built-in speakers on a 32". It has 2 HDMI inputs, and I hooked up a few electronics to test out the quality, and my HD camcorder (Creative Vado) looked much better on the 32LF11 than the 47" LG. I have to believe that is partly because of this TVs size, but it is still worth noting that it produced a better picture quality when replaying HD videos I had captured. I'm not sure I would recommend this size TV for a large room, although I was sitting about 8-10 feet away from the TV and had no complaints about the size (and I'm used to watching a 47"). I definitely recommend this TV for those looking for an HDTV to go in a smaller room with a relatively short viewing distance. I will also be using this as a monitor and for gaming consoles, which when tested worked great for both applications. The energy saver feature is an interesting concept as well, and may be worth looking into if you feel passionate about energy conservation. I can't speak intelligently about that feature since I haven't educated myself on it yet, but it seems like a interesting idea. Overall, I think this TV is very good and very functional with its size and great picture.
